Tony's Story
Claims Paid: $2,978.05
During routine pre-surgery testing for an abscessed tooth, Tony's veterinarian
discovered dangerously high levels of calcium in his blood. Further testing
revealed that Tony had a nodule on his thyroid causing it to over-function.
Unfortunately, Tony's condition worsened. His pet parent decided to try a new
procedure pioneered by the Mayo Clinic, and adapted for animals. It's called
alcohol ablation, and involves using ultrasound to guide ethanol into the nodule
to destroy foreign tissues.
Luckily, Tony is covered by our by ASPCA Pet Health Insurance,
and we've been able to help pay for $2,978.05 of his care.
