When disaster strikes, our beloved pets are often among the most vulnerable. Since late September, our strategic cause partners at The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) have worked tirelessly to protect and care for animals affected by Hurricane Helene across the Southeast, particularly in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.
The ASPCA's relief efforts include emergency shelters, pet supply distribution, veterinary care, and the heart-warming work of reuniting lost pets with their families. They've also helped evacuate homeless animals to partner facilities, making room in local shelters for pets in immediate need.
One month after Hurricane Helene's devastating impact in North Carolina, the situation remains challenging for many residents and their beloved furry friends, with some families camping on their properties or staying with loved ones as they work to rebuild their lives.
In times of crisis, every bit of help matters. That's why ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance has stepped forward with a $25,000 donation to provide 216 dog houses for families in need. These shelters will offer a safe haven for pets whose usual indoor homes have been damaged by the hurricane.
"Pets provide us with unconditional love and companionship, which is especially comforting when experiencing a hardship. Thanks to the generous support from ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, the ASPCA was able to provide 216 dog houses to animals whose homes were affected by Hurricane Helene, allowing them to stay safe and cared for by the people who love them as the community continues to rebuild.” — Tim Rickey, vice president of ASPCA National Field Response
Our strategic cause partnership with the ASPCA runs deep, formed in 2006 and rooted in our shared vision of a world where every pet can thrive. We're honored to support their vital work, knowing that together we're making a real difference in the lives of animals and their families.
Looking forward, the ASPCA continues its dedicated work at the emergency shelter in Conover, North Carolina, bringing hope to families as they reunite with their beloved pets.
